The Army
Institute of Law (AIL) was established in Jul 1999 under the
aegis of Army Welfare Education Society (AWES). AIL was inaugurated
by Lt. Gen. H B Kala, PVSM, AVSM, SC, the then GOC-in-C HQ Western
Command on 15 Jul 1999. It shifted to its permanent location
at Sector-68, Mohali on 21 Jul 2003. AIL Mohali has been inaugurated
by HE Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, President of India on 01 Dec 2003.
The Institute is running 5-year degree course in law after 10+2,
primarily for the wards of serving and ex-servicemen of Army.
However 20 percent seats are available for the civilians also.
Out of this 15 percent are reserved for Punjab Residents and
5 percent for All India Civil Category. |

ACADEMIC
AND ADMINSTRATIVE INFRACTURE AT MOHALI |
| |
AIL Mohali has an impressive architectural structure in the
vicinity of Punjab and Haryana High Court. The building has
administrative offices, class rooms with modern teaching aids,
moot court room seminar room, Computer lab with Leased line
Internet connectivity, spacious library with e-library section,
faculty rooms with LAN and internet, conference hall with
modern audio visual aids etc. The Campus also has the state-of-the-art
Multipurpose Hall, Gymnasium, Generator room, MI Room, CSD
counter, Cafe and other essential services.

AND APPROVAL |

The Institute
is affiliated to Punjabi University, Patiala and approved
by the Bar Council of India.
B.A.,
LL.B. (5 YEAR DEGREE COURSE)
B.A.,
LL.B. 5 year Degree Course comprising 10 semesters has been
adopted with the objective of encompassing knowledge of social
science subjects viz. Literature, Sociology, Economics, Political
Science and History at the initial stage. This is advantageous
in the study of law and to put the students on strong footing
for undertaking professional legal education and competitive
acumen. Students are awarded the degree of BA (Law) after
completion of 3 years study and after full 5 years, they get
degree of B.A., LL.B. |

TEACHING
METHODOLOGY |
| |
The teaching methodology adopted at AIL covers
participative classroom teaching, seminars, assignments, extension
lectures, guided library sessions, project presentations/
reports, computer application, moot courts and clinical legal
work.
Complementary
compulsory subjects have been introduced in first two years,
in order to inculcate ethical and moral values. The students
have to clear these subjects in order to be eligible for appearing
in the semester examinations.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR
ACTIVITIES |

For
over all development of the personality of the students, the
Institute emphasizes on extra curricular activities and sports.
The students, as per their interest, are motivated to become
members of the Debating Society, Fine Arts Society, Literary
Society, Cultural Association, Quiz Association or Moot Court
Society. AIL encourages its students to participate in different
events and activities organized from time to time. |

CAREER
COUNSELLING AND PLACEMENT CELL |
| |
To facilitate better insight into functional aspects of the
legal profession and to familiarize students with work environment,
the career counselling guidance and placement cell has been
established. It provides practical training to the budding
professionals in legal work in the courts, prosecution departments,
commercial corporate establishments, lawyer’s chambers
etc. |

has achieved tremendous success in the last few years. It
has created various academic records and is considered as
one of the best institutes imparting legal education in the
